WEEKLY DEVOTION

Move On

It is not always easy to move on in life. Moving on consists of letting go of people or times in your life that no longer benefit you. Sometimes it is hard to move on because of the pain attached to it, but we hurt ourselves more when we choose to continue putting up with people or situations that cause the pain. We heal with time. We must face the pain and find healthy ways to cope during tough transitions in life.

When we move on from seasons in our lives that are nearing an end, it always seems to come with doubt. We wonder if our next move is our best move. More than likely it is. It is possible that you had been feeling like moving on all along. In that case, it is confirmation. It comes down to you choosing to take the next step instead of procrastinating the outcome if you do.

Think about the times you felt like it was time for you to move on from a situation and you prolonged the departure. You will realize that the feeling you were having to move on was the right move. We have to keep that in mind. If something feels off, then most likely it is. However, just like any other decisions we make in life, it is important to pray to God about it. Listen to His voice and be led by the Spirit instead of your flesh.

If it is the right thing to do, usually our flesh will wrestle with our spirit. Our minds will wrestle with our hearts. We have to be able to move on when the time is right. That constant feeling of the need to do so is a warning. This week think about what people or situations you need to move on from. It just might be the next step to that open door. After all, not everyone can go with you and not every situation is meant to last.
