Support

Have you ever started a new business, graduated, got offered a big opportunity, or even got an award for something you did, and the very people you would have thought would support you, didn’t? Me too! It also happened recently. I just started a new endeavor and thought the support would first come from relatives and friends. My friends did support, and what is interesting to me – so did some enemies. But as for family? Only a few. Emphasis on few. It wasn’t from the family members you would think either.

I was bothered by it at first because you would think certain people would be the first to alarm everyone with the exciting news, but not in my case – haha! I can laugh about it because it is me, but for some, it is not a laughing matter. They feel heartbroken and alone. Let me tell you why I’m able to laugh about it now. I’m able to laugh about it because of this verse, “If God is for us, who can be against us?” (Romans 8:31).

Interestingly, the very same thing is happening to my sister/BFF. She is about to graduate as a pharmacist on May 3, 2024, and she is receiving the same kind of support – none, from the very same family members. Jealousy? Sure. Hatred? Maybe. We both laugh about it because we have one another. Always have. I told my sister about a sermon I heard recently that changed my perspective about the whole “support thing.”

We might feel alone, and ask God why don’t we get the same support as our peers. At least that is what me and my sister wonder. In our case, it feels like the world is against us, and it has felt that way for a long time. We are not imagining it. There are facts and evidence that will blow your mind. I won’t talk about it here, but I will bring it up on my podcast, “The Sierra Podcast” so stay tuned for that.

We are not alone. The armies the enemy sends against us aren’t bigger than the armies God has set before us in the spiritual realm. If you lack support from family and friends and feel down inside, remember the scripture found in (Romans 8:31). Keep pushing through those difficult moments, pass whatever tests are sent to destroy you, pray, conquer, and then help the next person do the same. This week be a support system for those who need one. Even if it’s just two of you, help build one another up. Be that support system, and have a great week!
