Accountability

I know so many people who don’t take responsibility for their actions. Instead, they lie, place blame on others, or even brush off the wrong as if it didn’t happen. This bothers me so much. I don’t trust these people because if they can lie to themselves, they’ll lie to me. People often call me “blunt” or “straight-forward” so you can probably imagine how hard it is for me to not speak on the matter, but I call people out on their wrongs. Some people appreciate it, whereas others take offense. Either way, I’m content with the truth. Likewise, I appreciate when people tell me about something I was wrong about so that I can make it right. I choose to take accountability for my actions.

Not taking accountability for your actions makes you a liar. If you are the kind of person who has a hard time taking accountability for your actions, then you should pray to God about it. There is nothing good about that. You are dishonest, in denial, and therefore untrustworthy. If you can’t be honest or hold accountable your actions, then whatever it is that you are having to lie about, you shouldn’t be doing it. It’s pretty simple! Lately, God has revealed to me dishonest people such as (family and loved ones). I know these people are dishonest and it irritates me. I’ve witnessed their stories change once they’re caught. I have even watched some pretend like they’re innocent, but they’re not, and it’s just sickening to me.

Taking accountability for your actions is a step towards being a trustworthy person. We should always be honest no matter what. If you’re about to make a decision that you may have to lie about, don’t do it. The truth will come out eventually and you are going to have to hold account for everything you’ve done. We all will when Jesus returns. It is not too late to repent and ask for forgiveness. Being known as untrustworthy is not a space you want to be in. You may miss out on good relationships, great opportunities, etc… Take the necessary steps towards becoming a better you. Have a good week!
