There will be moments in our lives when we must take a leap of faith. We tend to wait on God, but sometimes God could be waiting on us to make that first step. Of course, the unknown can be scary, but stepping out on faith can lead to beautiful destinations. One time me and a friend took a trip to a city we had never been to before. We booked a hotel online, but that night we arrived at the hotel, the hotel didn’t look how it did online.
I told my friend that I refused to stay in the hotel for the 4 days we were going to be down there. We grabbed our things, went to the receptionist’s desk for a refund, and left. We had no idea where we were going, but I was praying to God in my head for a miracle. After continuous walking, we stopped at a nice restaurant and sat in the chairs outside. My friend was on the phone in the process of booking another hotel, but something told me to be still and wait. I know now it was the Holy Spirit.
Minutes later, an elderly man stopped his car in the middle of the street. He got out of the car, looking around. Everyone saw him, including the people in the restaurant, but no one helped him. I felt an urge to go help him, so I did. It turned out the man was on a medication that messed with his memory. I told him how my friend and I were looking for a place to stay, and he offered us his home with him and his dog.
Upon arrival, I offered to help tidy up his home as a kind gesture for his hospitality. While cleaning, I heard someone at his door. It was one of his sons. The son asked us what we were doing there, and I told him what happened. He thought the story sounded bizarre so he asked his dad. His dad confirmed everything we said. The son told us that we couldn’t stay there, but he would get us a hotel.
The son was upset and had every right to be since we were two strangers in his dad’s home. I decided to sit in the passenger side to help calm him. Afterward, he began to loosen up. He was calm and started to converse with us about the city. We ended up in this neighborhood where he began telling us about celebrities living there. Minutes later we pulled up to this big beautiful building. It was the hotel.
I asked him, “Where are we?” He said, “This is the hotel I booked for you guys.” Inside the hotel looked like a beautiful mansion with beautiful floors, walls, chandeliers, staircases, etc. It was the most beautiful hotel I had seen. The guy told the receptionist how we saved his dad’s life. He thanked us and asked if he could take a picture with us.
Sometimes you have to take a leap of faith. You never know where it will lead you. Whatever you are struggling to come to terms with, pray to God and trust that He will guide you. Enjoy the rest of your week!
